The July 15, 2012 edition of the Doonesbury comic strip was based on research done at the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence. The research has already been referenced in numerous other media sources, but to the best of the researchers' knowledge, this is the first time the work has been included in a comic strip. According to CCI Director Thomas Malone, one of the authors of the original study, the comic strip includes one "error" in its summary of the research results. The Doonesbury character says that "Group IQ doesn't correlate with the average IQ of its members," but Malone says that the researchers found a "modest" correlation rather than no correlation. Otherwise, the results summarized in the comic strip correspond very closely to the results of the actual CCI research.
